Does geotagging photos actually help local SEO?
Google has said GPS data in photo EXIF is not a confirmed ranking factor for Google Business Profile, and many local SEO practitioners still do it anyway on the theory that it reinforces the business's location. Treat it as a small, low-effort signal, not a substitute for real reviews, citations and on-page local content.
Where do I find a location's latitude and longitude?
Open the location in Google Maps, right-click the exact spot, and the coordinates appear at the top of the menu ready to copy.
Will this affect other photo details like orientation?
Yes. Adding the location replaces the photo's existing metadata, including camera details and orientation. Geotag a copy of the original if you need to keep both.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and rewritten entirely in your browser using the File API. Nothing is sent to any server.
